In August, it was announced that Sony would be rolling out Android Pie to some of their devices, while the firm initially said they'd be updated in September, it changed this to November, but now the firm has set an October release date in stone. According to the firm in a new blog post, Android Pie will now begin its rollout starting October 26.

The firm states that its premium-range phones, which includes the XZ Premium, XZ1, and XZ1 Compact, will receive Android Pie from October 26. It also clarified that the owners of the XZ2 Premium can grab their slice from November 7. The XZ2 and XZ2 Compact which were listed in the August report have already received their Pie upgrades.

It was also previously announced that the XA2, XA2 Ultra, and the XA2 Plus would be receiving their Pie upgrades in early 2019, it is now confirmed that updates will commence on March 4, which is admittedly quite a bit of a wait.

Android 9.0 Pie was released at the beginning of August for Pixel devices, third-party devices that were eligible for the beta, and Android One handsets. OEMs have always been fairly slow to upgrade existing customers to the latest version of Android, for this reason, Sony ought to be congratulated on getting the update out has quick has it has done for those devices being upgraded this month.
