Sony reveals limited edition Gran Turismo Sport version of its PlayStation 4

Earlier this week, at the gamescom 2017 expo, Microsoft unveiled a new limited edition Minecraft-themed version of its Xbox One S console, featuring a rather dramatic design for fans of the blocky world-building game. Now, Sony has also revealed a special edition of its PlayStation 4 - although it's certainly lacking the visual extravagance of Microsoft's new Minecraft console.

Perhaps it would be fairer to say that Sony is aiming for a more 'understated' approach with its limited edition 1TB Gran Turismo Sport PlayStation 4 console, which it announced today. The console itself has "an exclusive Gran Turismo Sport silver faceplate" featuring the GT logo, while the matching controller has a similar color scheme with the same logo on its touchpad.

"The limited edition console comes with a Day 1 edition of the game," Sony said, "which provides access to $250,000 in-game credits, livery sticker packs, a chrome racing helmet and 60 PS4 avatars."

Gamers will also be able to purchase the Limited Edition GT Sport DualShock 4 controller on its own, or in a bundle with the standard copy of the game. Four additional console bundles that include the game will be offered too:

  • Jet Black PS4 1 TB edition
  • Jet Black PS4 500GB edition
  • Jet Black PS4 1TB + extra Jet Black DUALSHOCK 4 edition
  • Jet Black PS4 Pro edition

The 1TB Gran Turismo Sport PlayStation 4 Limited Edition console will be released in the UK, Europe and Australasia on October 18. Details of pricing will be announcing locally in each market. You can get a further look at the limited edition console in the video below:
