Since the announcement of the Nintendo Switch, Splatoon 2 has been one of the more prominent game titles advertised, being one of the few first-party releases making its debut in the first six months of the console's lifecycle. With its 'Global Testfire' event conducted in March, it appears that Nintendo is finally ready to release the title to nearly two million Switch owners.
During its Nintendo Direct online event, the firm announced that it would make the game available on July 21. Perhaps the more interesting portion of the announcement was the inclusion of a four-player co-op mode. This mode will allow you to team up with friends and purge a new threat, Salmonid. The Salmonid will come in waves, attempting to paint the location and there will also be occasional boss spawns, making the task more challenging. If players get taken out during the co-op mode, they can be resurrected by having an active teammate paint their lifesaver, an item that was deployed when the player was eliminated.
Along with the game, Nintendo will also debut three new amiibo figures: Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, and Inkling Squid. Players will be able to use these new amiibo to unlock special gear and also save weapon and outfit profiles. All three will launch on the same day as the game on July 21.
