Spotify finally brings 'Hey Siri' support to Apple Watch users

Spotify added the ability for iOS users to ask Siri to play music through the app back in October 2019. It was a welcome addition for users of the platform since that capability was almost entirely exclusive to Apple music until iOS 13. Now, the ability is making it’s way to users of the Apple Watch with a new update to Spotify (spotted by 9to5Mac).

Version 8.5.52 of the app brings the option to use the Hey Siri voice activation along with a command for Spotify from any Apple Watch running watchOS 6 or newer. Users can either say “Hey Siri, play music on Spotify” or any command for the app with the “on Spotify” suffix. Although a basic feature, it was seemingly absent for users of Apple’s wearables till now.

Spotify for the Apple Watch launched back in 2018. The music streaming service has been slow to add features to its iOS version and the company’s battle with the Cupertino giant’s App Store policies hasn’t helped either. The music streaming service is also reportedly working on a 'Hey Spotify' voice activation feature.

If you are an Apple Watch user and wish to try out this feature, you can head to the App Store here to check for an update or download the app.
