Samsung has begun releasing the stable Android 9.0 Pie update to the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in Europe today. The rollout has been spotted in Germany and The Netherlands, at the very least, marking the official rollout of the latest Android version to these devices after nearly two months of beta testing.
The South Korean tech giant kicked off the open beta program for Android Pie last month by bringing its new user experience called One UI based on that operating system to the Galaxy S9 range. Today's update bumps up the software version to G960FXXU2CRLI and G965FXXU2CRLI for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, respectively. It comes in at over 1.7GB and arrives for Android Oreo users as well as Android Pie beta testers.
Those residing in Germany can manually download the update by heading over to the "Software update" menu in the Settings section and tapping the "Download updates manually" option. Meanwhile, users in The Netherlands may start downloading the software update onto their Galaxy S9/S9+ devices along with the December 1, 2018 security patch, as evidenced by this tweet:
It's worth pointing out that the global rollout of Android Pie to the Galaxy S9 series and the Galaxy Note9 won't be expected to happen until next month, as Samsung previously confirmed. Nonetheless, today's release in some parts of Europe marks an improvement to how the company pushes major software updates to its devices in terms of timing.
