Star Citizen's latest free play event runs until September 23

Cloud Imperium Games has opened the doors of Star Citizen to everyone again as part of a brand new Free Fly event, offering complete access to the crowd-funded behemoth's latest public build for a two week period starting now.

As part of the latest Ship Showdown event that's trying to find the most popular vessel in the game, 16 ships are currently available to fly for free, which come from the Aigis, Anvil, Drake, MISC, Banu, Esperia, RSI, and Origin Jumpworks in-game companies. All ships in this session had been selected by the community as their favorites in the multiplayer space simulation title.

The Free Fly event is now up and running, and all that's required to jump in is an account on the Roberts Space Industries website. Head over here to get started. The two-week promotion will come to an end on September 23, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. UTC. The developer is also offering discounts on the starter ship packages throughout the event.

Star Citizen's crowdfunding pool breached the $300 million mark in June this year, with it gaining the huge sum from over 2.7 million backers at the time. Since then, the in-development game has raised another $12 million. The latest major alpha update to Star Citizen delivered a new atmospheric flight model, alongside other features.
