State of Decay 2 launches May 22 on Xbox One and Windows 10 for $29.99

Undead Labs' upcoming Microsoft platform exclusive title, State of Decay 2, finally has a new release date following its delay last year, with the developer confirming to IGN that the much-awaited sequel will arrive later this year on May 22 to Xbox One and Windows 10.

The cooperative title will have a price tag of $29.99 for the standard version. Microsoft's GM of games marketing, Aaron Greenberg, explained the reasoning behind the low price point as follows:

“Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise. We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game.”

There is also a $49.99 Ultimate Edition that players can opt to purchase, which includes all the content in the standard edition, a copy of State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition, as well as what looks to be two post-launch add-on packs, Independence and Daybreak. Also, Ultimate Edition owners will be able to jump into the zombie apocalypse a few days earlier than standard owners, on May 18.

State of Decay 2 will be a part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, where purchasing a copy on either Xbox One or Windows 10 will give access to both platforms, free of charge. And, thanks to Microsoft making the decision to include all Xbox One first-party games in the Xbox Game Pass, the game will also be available through the company's $9.99 subscription program at launch.
