TCL unveiled its new BlackBerry-branded Android handset, and we got some hands-on time at the launch event. The high-end handset has a physical QWERTY keyboard, and promises "unparalleled security".
While BlackBerry is done with the building and manufacturing of hardware, it appears they have designed the most recent offering, which will be unveiled at CES and reportedly head to Verizon Wireless.
Although BlackBerry once held as much as 20% of the smartphone market share, today it officially bows out as the company announces it has sold manufacturing rights to the BlackBerry brand to TCL.
BlackBerry is expected to launch two mid-range Android smartphones this year, and the company is probably relying on the Chinese manufacturer, TCL, to build one of these handsets.
