Surface Book 2 and Laptop 3 get firmware updates to improve Surface Dock 2 reliability

Microsoft is currently rolling out a few driver and firmware updates for two of its Surface devices, the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Laptop 3.

For the Surface Book 2, the updates focus almost exclusively on improving the experience using the Surface Dock 2, which was launched earlier this year. The improvements revolve around Wake-on-LAN scenarios and authentication. Here's the full list:

The updates are available for all Surface Book 2 users, as long they're running Windows 10 version 1809 or newer. It doesn't look like Microsoft is going for a phased rollout this time around.

The Surface Laptop 3 has a more extensive list of updates, and they try to improve multiple aspects of the experience. There are still some updates related to the Surface Dock 2, but some are also meant to improve audio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and more. These updates are exclusively for the Intel-powered versions of the Laptop 3, as the AMD variant already received its own updates earlier this week. Here's what's new:

As mentioned above, these updates are available for all Intel-powered variants of the Surface Laptop 3, though you will need to be running Windows 10 version 1903 or newer. Considering the PC was released last fall, that shouldn't be a problem for most users. The updates should be installed automatically through Windows Update sooner rather than later, but you can always check for updates manually if you don't want to wait.
