Surface Pro 3 now sold out on Microsoft Store in the US

A couple of weeks back, the Microsoft Store site in the UK sold its last remaining stocks of the Surface Pro 3, while in the US, just one model - the range-topping 512GB Core i7 version - remained in stock. Now, that variant of Microsoft's last-generation tablet has sold out on the US Store, clearing the way for the company to focus its online sales efforts on the newer Surface Pro 4, and its sister device, the Surface Book.

It's not quite the end of an era just yet though. Stocks of the Surface Pro 3 still remain available in the US sales channel through Microsoft's retail partners, and you may even find a few left at some of Microsoft's own brick-and-mortar Stores across North America.

However, it's only a matter of time before this last smattering of inventory is depleted too, consigning the device to the annals of tech history - in some markets anyway. Microsoft introduced the Surface Pro 3 in India for the first time three weeks ago - 18 months after the device originally went on sale.

Following its launch, the Pro 3 went on to become a big sales hit, helping to grow the Surface line into a billion dollar business for Microsoft. The company unveiled its successor back in October, featuring the latest Intel Skylake processors, and a new top-of-the-range model - with a whopping 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM - went on sale last month.
