T-Mobile's new service will now be able to prevent unsolicited calls from hitting your phone

We have all experienced at one point or another, getting a mysterious call from an unknown number, having a bit of faith and picking up, only to be disappointed by an automated spam call or a person on the other end trying to bilk you out of your hard-earned money. Luckily, T-Mobile is now offering a new service that will identify and even eliminate these kinds of calls from ever reaching your phone.

Today, Scam ID and Scam Block is rolling out to customers, giving them the power to filter out and prevent unwanted calls. Scam ID will be the first step, alerting customers when a call comes in from a scam number. Customers can also upgrade the level of protection by activating Scam Block. Now, this isn't something built into an app or into T-Mobile's phones; this is a service that will be handled at the network level.

Utilizing patent-pending technology, every time a call enters the T-Mobile network, it is analyzed against a regularly updated database. Once it is identified, the call is pushed to the customer with the warning that it is most likely an unwanted call. If you don't want to even bother screening calls, you can activate the aforementioned Scam Block that will stop these types of calls from ever reaching your phone. Naturally, there is room for error, so you'll want to proceed with caution when enabling this feature.

Both of these features will begin rolling out to existing T-Mobile ONE customers today and will be available to new customers on April 5. Best of all, the new service will be completely free.
