The Tails Project has released Tails 5.8, one of the biggest Tails updates ever. It includes a better Persistent Storage tool that eliminates restarts and Wayland has become the display server.

Canonical has announced that Ubuntu 21.04 will ship with the Wayland display server as default. This will give the software a year to mature before Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is released for production PCs.
Debian 10 "Buster", due for release in 2019, will likely ship with the new window manager, Wayland, but will also come with X11 as a fallback in case people's hardware doesn't support it.
