The $39.99 Amazon Fire TV Stick now ships with a remote that can control your TV

Amazon announced today that its most inexpensive streaming dongle, the Fire TV Stick, will now ship with an upgraded Alexa Voice Remote. The remote already ships with the company's higher end units, including the Fire TV Cube, and the Fire TV Stick 4K.

While the old remote that shipped with the Fire TV Stick did support Alexa voice commands - hence the 'all-new' Alexa Voice Remote - this one adds dedicated volume control and power buttons. You can use them to control your TV, soundbar, or AV receiver.

If you've already got a Fire TV Stick and you want the remote, there's good news on that front as well. For a limited time, the standalone remote is 50% off, so you can get one for $14.99.

You can pre-order the Fire TV Stick with the all-new Alexa Voice Remote today, and it's available in the U.S., UK, Canada, Germany, India, and Japan. If you want to check it out, you can find it here, or you can get the standalone remote here. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with the first-gen Fire TV Stick or the first- or second-generation Fire TV. Of course, if you want to future-proof yourself a bit more, you can get the Fire TV Stick 4K for $10 more.
