Progressive Web Apps (PWA) are slowly, but surely, growing in popularity, and Microsoft's strategy to bring them to Windows 10 through the Microsoft Store could end up paying off. Video streaming service Hulu is the latest app to make its way to Windows 10 in the form of a PWA, which means the app now has a new look and possibly new features.
Hulu was previously available for Windows 10, but it didn't seem to get a lot of attention from the development team. Since PWAs are essentially websites, this should make it a lot easier for Windows users to get access to new features as they come. This includes the live TV streaming service that launched back in 2017 - which wasn't even mentioned as being in the works for the Windows 10 app.
Netflix yesterday announced a price hike for all of its tiers, which makes its cheapest plan cost $9. This sits slightly above Hulu's base plan which costs $8 and offers HD streaming, which Netflix's lowest tier does not. This could prompt some customers to at least consider switching, so it's good to know that improvements are being made to the Windows 10 app.
Hulu joins the likes of Twitter, Uber, and Microsoft's own Teams, among others, in launching a PWA on the Microsoft Store. The update is rolling out over the next few weeks, so it might not be available for everyone just yet. Nonetheless, if you're interested, you can find Hulu for Windows 10 here.
