Last year when Apple introduced the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, it introduced its own version of the installment plans that are becoming increasingly popular when purchasing a smartphone called the iPhone Upgrade Program.
The Program offers an unlocked iPhone with AppleCare+, with payments divided into 24 monthly installments. After 12 payments are made, the customer can return the iPhone for a newer one.
There was only one problem. Customers had to go to a physical Apple Store to get the deal. When preordering the device, many consumers found it confusing, as there was nothing on the site about how to sign up. The answer was to reserve the iPhone to pick up in-store, but customers had no way of knowing that unless they called Apple Support.
Seven months later, consumers can finally sign up for the iPhone Upgrade Program when purchasing an iPhone online.
The Program starts at $32.41 a month for a 16 GB iPhone 6s and goes up by $4.17 with each additional tier. Interestingly, the iPhone SE is not offered for the program, so if you were thinking of paying off the last five months of your balance and trading your 6s for an SE, you're out of luck.
