Lenovo today announced its newest premium Yoga PCs. Along with the Yoga C730 with AMOLED, there's also the Yoga S940. First of all, Lenovo has been using new branding, so to be clear, this is a clamshell laptop.
Historically, Yoga has meant that it's a convertible, and that was the case with the Yoga 920. It's successor, the Yoga C930, was also a convertible, but it used the new branding, which has a C for convertible. But now, Yoga just means premium, and the S in the name means slim. You'll also see D for detachable, and so on.
One of the interesting things about the Yoga S940 is that it has what Lenovo calls AI sensors. These sensors can detect when you walk away from your PC and lock it, and they can also alert you when someone is looking over your shoulder at your PC.
It also has Mirametrix Glance technology, which will automatically track your movement when you look at a second display, and seamlessly shift content to a connected external monitor. Lenovo is calling the whole package of features Smart Assist.
The Yoga S940 includes a fingerprint reader and an IR camera for Windows Hello, and it has voice-matching so you can talk to Cortana or Alexa. On top of that, the whole package weighs in at just 2.65 pounds, so it's incredibly light.
The PC comes with Intel's Whiskey Lake CPUs, or it can be configured with a 35W Core i7-8700T, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 1TB storage. The 13.9-inch display goes up to 4K, and it supports Dolby Vision HDR.
The Lenovo Yoga S940 will be available in May, starting at $1,499.
