Last week, HMD Global announced the Nokia 7.1, a mid-range smartphone with pretty decent specs and features for its price point. That device was particularly interesting for U.S. customers, as it was one of the company's few devices to have a planned release in the country. But it looks as though the 7.1 could be joined by another one of Nokia's phones, the 2.1.
Evan Blass, famed leaker of all things in the world of tech, tweeted earlier today about the Nokia 2.1V, a phone which the Finnish manufacturer will launch in the United States in a partnership with Verizon.
It's currently unclear if this will be exactly the same phone as the Nokia 2.1 that was released in other markets, or if spec changes will be made. If it stays the same, we're looking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 paired with a measly 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It's a very low-end phone, and its performance reflects that, as noted in the review written by our own Muhammad Jarir Kanji, and so it may not attract many customers on that basis.
Pricing details and availability are also not known at this point, but pricing around the world varies between $90 and $110. If you're not a fan of the underwhelming specs on the Nokia 2.1, or if you prefer your phones unlocked, the Nokia 7.1 is already available for pre-order at Amazon and Best Buy in the United States.
