The Rock and Apple's Siri star in a new action movie parody together

No, you're not dreaming. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has announced through social media that he and Apple have joined forces on a new project starring him and the virtual assistant Siri, in what seems to be an action movie parody.

The wrestler-turned-actor shared the new poster for the flick, which depicts him holding an iPhone amongst robots and aliens. The film is called The Rock x Siri, could give you the impression that it will be a sci-fi action movie; and according to Johnson, it's pretty awesome:

I partnered with #Apple to make the BIGGEST, COOLEST, CRAZIEST, DOPEST, MOST OVER THE TOP, FUNNEST (is that even a word?) movie ever.

Apple has posted a trailer on its YouTube page showing The Rock accomplishing some tasks thanks to the assistant. The actor also noted yesterday in his Facebook post that the movie will go live today, and was published six hours ago.

Even though the video essentially appears to be a long-form ad, it's an interesting way to advertise a digital assistant. Apple will release its response to the Amazon Echo later this year dubbed the HomePod, which will go on sale for a retail price of $349. The device will feature 'premium' speakers that 'intelligently' directs sound towards you, wherever you are in the room. It will, of course, have Siri integration, which will allow you to request updates and information much like the Echo.

Apple is expected to reveal its latest iPhone at an event in September, and several leaks have suggested that the device will have an edge-to-edge display amongst other features, and will be quite expensive coming in at an expected retail price of around $1,000. Unfortunately, given that The Rock x Siri failed to offer up any hints about the upcoming device or potential improvements to Siri, we will need to sit tight until Apple makes an official announcement later this year.
