After the surprise was ruined by a wild store page that appeared on the Microsoft Store yesterday, EA has now officially confirmed The Sims 4's entrance onto the console stage, as expected. Although the original listing spouted rumors of the game being Xbox One exclusive, the official announcement confirms the game's arrival on the Xbox One as well as the PlayStation 4.
The Sims 4's brand new console trailer is seen above, showcasing many of the features and quirks the series is known for. The game's executive producer, Lyndsay Pearson said that the developer, Maxis, is excited to bring the life simulator game to new platforms, adding that:
The game delivers a beautiful The Sims experience on console and comes packed with tons of the fan-favorite content, so players can look forward to the unique gameplay, self-expression, and fun that have come to be tentpoles of The Sims brand. The possibilities to play with life are as endless as the players’ creativity.
It seems like that the console edition will be host to the same amount of content as the PC version's base game, and sadly will not include any of the expansions. However, the developer does say that many of the content updates that were added to the PC version post-launch will be included on the console edition, which is assumed to be things such as toddlers and pools.
The Sims 4 will be available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles on November 17, 2017. Also, anyone who pre-orders the game will receive The Sims 4 Perfect Patio Stuff pack, which includes hot tubs, outdoor decorative items, and other furnishings.
Meanwhile, pre-ordering The Sims 4 Deluxe Party Edition gives players a three-day head start on the game, as well as special content such as a flaming tiki bar, costumes, and hats to customize their Sims with, in addition to the above-mentioned Stuff pack and more. Lastly, EA Access subscribers on the Xbox One will also get the opportunity to try out the game thanks to a Play First Trial starting on November 9.
