As cameras in smartphone get better, more people are using them in versatile and interesting ways. So it comes as no surprise that gimbals are a hot item, providing those that want to capture smoother videos an option for stabilization. While it's a worthwhile product, beginners might be a bit squeamish when it comes to investing a couple hundred dollars, but it now looks like the folks at Steadicam have created a more affordable product, the Steadicam Volt.
If Steadicam sounds familiar, that's because it is a type of camera stabilizer that was invented in the 1970s and was used on many of your favorite films. Although it is still a widely used tool in film and TV productions today, the company is branching out to offer a smartphone solution, leveraging the Steadicam name and technology.
Unlike 3-axis gimbals that are more commonly being sold today, the Volt offers a different approach that offers the ability to perform precision movements.

As of the time of writing, the Kickstarter has been fully funded with the product estimated to ship sometime in June. As mentioned previously, the Steadicam Volt can be funded at a minimum price of $139 USD.
