The Surface Studio 2 is now available for purchase, starting at $3,499

It's been about a month and a half since Microsoft announced the Surface Studio 2 - along with the Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, and Surface Headphones - but the wait is finally over. While the all-in-one PC has been available for pre-order since it was announced, you can now go and bring one home.

The Surface Studio 2 solves many of the complaints that were made about its predecessor. There's a lot more GPU power, with up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, and it comes with an SSD this time around instead of an HDD.

There's only one processor option this time around: an Intel Core i7-7820HQ. Yes, Microsoft opted to use a 45W mobile processor again, and the reason is because the Surface team didn't want to compromise the form factor. The seventh-generation processor is quad-core, although if it had used an eighth-gen chip, it would be hexa-core.

The Surface Studio 2 also comes with display improvements. Microsoft says that it's using a new liquid crystal technology, that's 38% brighter at 500 nits, with 22% more contrast.

For $3,499, it comes with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. The next step up gets you the same storage and 32GB RAM for $4,199, and for $4,799, you'll get 32GB RAM and a 2TB SSD. You can check out the Surface Studio 2 on the Microsoft Store here.
