Yesterday, many media outlets started reporting that you can now get the "Microsoft Edition" of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ directly from Microsoft. According to these reports, these devices came pre-installed with the Office suite and a few other apps developed by the Redmond giant.
However, Microsoft has now refuted these claims, saying that there is no such thing as a "Microsoft Edition" of the Galaxy S9 and S9+, as we anticipated.
According to On MSFT, Microsoft has stated that Galaxy S9 and S9+ units purchased from the company will not come with any pre-installed Microsoft applications, such as the Office suite. However, if customers so wish, retail employees at the store can assist users to install Microsoft apps after they purchase the handsets.
In short, a "Microsoft Edition" of the Galaxy S9 handsets does not exist, and any unit that you purchase from Microsoft will offer the exact same experience that a device purchased from Samsung does.
This clarification from the Redmond giant falls directly in line with the announcement that Samsung made last year, stating that there is no "'Microsoft Edition' brand of any Samsung Galaxy products".
