This week's highlights in new game releases: June 27-July 3

It's been a busy period for new game releases in the past few weeks but the last week of June starts a period where the major game releases will be few and far between. This week's biggest new game release is in fact a downloadable DLC map pack. It's Call of Duty Black Ops Annihilation. The third map pack for the hit first person shooter will be released on Tuesday for the Xbox 360 version of the game from developer Treyarch and publisher Activision. The map pack contains four new multiplayer maps as well as a new zombie-themed co-op level. The map pack will likely be released for the PC and PS3 platforms in about a month.

Also due for release next week is Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition for the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. This is actually the second revision of Capcom's fighting game Street Fighter IV that was first released in 2009 and got updated with Super Street Fighter IV in 2010. Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will add four new characters to the game along with other gameplay additions and improvements. The game will be released for the PC via download the week of July 4.

Other games due out in the coming week are Puzzle Agent 2, the sequel to Telltale Games' puzzle-themed adventure game for the PC and Mac. Xbox 360 owners will get to download Backbreaker Vengeance, the next game in the pro football game series. PS3 owners will  be able to download Beyond Good and Evil HD, a graphical remake of the acclaimed Ubisoft action-adventure game. Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to purchase Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, a third person shooter from Capcom.
