Those in Korea will be able to update their LG V30 to Android 8.0 Oreo

The LG V30 has been out on retail shelves for close to a month in the United States. Although there are some reported issues with its display, the smartphone, for the most part, has been positively received. Despite it launching in October, the handset didn't arrive with Google's latest Android update and instead came with Android 7.1.2. Now, it appears that firm is getting its handset on track with the release of an update to Android 8.0 Oreo.

Today, those in South Korea will be able to get their hands on the update through LG's OS Preview Program that will allow V30 owners to update to Android 8.0. This will be available to all V30 owners and it doesn't make a difference what carrier the device has been purchased from. If all goes to plan, LG will roll out the release as a proper update to all handsets in Korea sometime in December.

While this is good news, the firm did not announce when this update will arrive in other markets. So for the time being, those outside of Korea will be out of luck.
