THQ Nordic owner acquires eight more studios, including Metro series maker 4A Games

Embracer Group and its publishing arms, THQ Nordic and Koch Media, among others, have been steadily amassing a huge number of game development studios and IPs over the past few years, with some notable ones including Gunfire Games (Darksiders) Coffee Stain Studios (Satisfactory), and Warhorse Studios (Kingdom Come: Deliverance).

Today it was revealed that eight more studios have joined Embracer Group's fold, and the biggest one of the bunch is 4A Games, the maker of the hit Metro franchise. The deal has 4A Games' two studios in Malta and Ukraine plus its entire team of over 150 staff joining the Embracer Group through the Saber Interactive Label.

Moreover, while 4A Games is exploring more ways to continue the Metro franchise, working with the original writer Dmitry Glukhovsky, it was confirmed that the studio is currently busy building a brand new AAA IP. 4A is also collaborating with Saber Interactive on a multiplayer live service title.

Also joining the Embracer Group is New World Interactive, the Denver, Colorado-based studio behind the Insurgency franchise. The Insurgency: Sandstorm console launch will go ahead as planned in the first half of 2021. Other additions to the Embracer Group announced today were Palindrome Interactive, Pow Wow Entertainment, Sola Media, Rare Earth Games, Deca Games, and Vermila Studios.
