Tiger Direct to sell Windows 8 for $48 on Black Friday

A few days ago, we reported that Office Max would sell the boxed copy of Windows 8 for essentially $29.99 for Black Friday, compared to its normal price of $69.99. However, that price only came about because of a $10 price reduction, plus a $30 credit that can only be used in Office Max stores.

Now there's word that Tiger Direct's retail stores will also have a price reduction on the boxed Windows 8 upgrade, and this one is a much more direct price cut. According to a scan of the Black Friday Tiger Direct newspaper ad posted at BFads.net, the Windows 8 upgrade will be available from that store for just $48.

The only catch (and there always seems to be one) is that price will only be good for one hour, starting at 1 pm in Tiger Direct stores on Black Friday. So if you live near one of their stores, keep that in mind.

The scanned ad also shows that Tiger Direct will sell the OEM boxed version of Windows 8 for $79.99 in their stores for Black Friday, along with the OEM Windows 8 Pro version for $119.99. These prices are $20 off their normal levels. There is no real catch here; you just need to be in the store sometime during the Black Friday weekend.
