Toshiba Adds High-Definition Options to Laptops

Toshiba Corp. on Monday pushed high-definition technology into new laptops, expanding entertainment options for budget users. The Satellite A205 and Qosmio F45 laptops provide HD DVD drives and entertainment options to more users at an affordable price, said Ronald Ching, a Toshiba spokesman. The company introduced HD DVD drives in Qosmio G35-AV650 laptops last year.

The Satellite A205-S7468 includes an HD DVD-ROM drive and a 720p high-definition screen so users can watch HD movies. Priced at US$1,150, the laptop will run on an Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 processor, with a 200G-byte hard drive, 2G bytes of RAM (expandable to 4G bytes), 802.11a/g/n wireless networking, Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator card and a webcam. It runs the Windows Vista Home Premium OS and weighs around 6 pounds (2.7 kilograms).
