Twitter introduces audio-only broadcasting for iOS

Twitter has allowed its users to broadcast video for some time now, thanks to its dedicated Periscope app. However, the social network feels there may be a subset of users who would rather not stream video of themselves but still broadcast audio for some reason.

Today, the company announced that iOS users can now start broadcasting audio from within the Twitter app. While the feature seems to be rolling out to those using Apple devices, no information was provided regarding a possible launch for Android users, so it might be a while before everyone can use it. It's also unclear if desktop devices will be able to make use of audio broadcasts using the Progressive Web App which just yesterday started being enabled for some users.

It's interesting to note that Twitter is adding audio broadcasting to its app, a feature that doesn't seem to have been requested by that many users. In the meantime, the long-awaited ability to edit a tweet, which has even been hinted at in the past, still seems to be gone. Even the company's CEO Jack Dorsey recently fell victim to the inability to correct spelling errors, which generated some commotion among users.
