Twitter announced in a blog post today the release of Explore, a new feature designed to help users discover tweets more easily. In fact, this is the merge of other features already available: Moments, trends, and search.
Moments is a feature that was released back in 2015 and it helps users to get up to date information about events by capturing the most popular stories. Besides that, users have also been able to use trends to find what topics are being discussed right now or just use search to find anything else. But with the release of Explore, users will be able to "find trends, Moments, search, and the best of live video, all within the new Explore tab", according to the company.
The decision to make this change is the result of a year of experimentation to gain feedback from people, as stated by Twitter in the blog post:
Over the past year, we’ve been exploring different ways to make it simpler for people to find and use trends, Moments, and search. During our research process, people told us that the new Explore tab helped them easily find news, what’s trending, and what’s popular right now.
The new feature will start rolling out today on Twitter for iOS and the same is going to happen in the following weeks on Twitter for Android. Unfortunately, nothing was shared regarding plans to release Explore on the Windows platform.
