Updated Windows 10 Store with new UI is now finally rolling out to desktop insiders

Old Store UI

When Microsoft launched the latest Windows 10 Mobile insider version, build 14342, the company also rolled out a big redesign for the Windows Store. Unfortunately, the new UI was only available on mobile phones, but that’s changing as of now with the redesign finally reaching desktops as well.

Originally, the new Store was also supposed to show up on the desktop build of Windows 10 for insiders on the Fast ring, but a bug in the update package kept it from installing. The Microsoft team went to work on creating a new app package that would install correctly, and that update seems to now be rolling out to users around the world.

New Store UI

There are numerous changes to the Store’s interface with this latest update, refining everything from the main page, to app detail screens, to a new download indicator. It’s also easier to hide apps, and see the ones you’ve already purchased.

All in all this is a useful and much-desired update for the Windows 10 Store, and you can get it by checking for updates in the Store app. In case the update still fails to install it means you’ll have to wait a bit more until the new package spreads across all the update servers.
