Vanquish finally announced for PC, Steam pre-order now available

Following Bayonetta's launch on PC last month, SEGA is now back with another PC port of a console exclusive title, and this time it's Vanquish. The 2010 action game was developed Platinum Games, the same studio behind Bayonetta. The SEGA Twitter account had been teasing the announcement for a few days before the game was made available for pre-order on Steam.

The PC version arrives with a host of new features to take advantage of the platform; these include an unlocked frame rate, 4K resolution support, along with scalable graphics options for anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, SSAO lighting, textures and shadow quality. Conveniently, keyboard and mouse support is also available, arriving alongside gamepad controls.

The new PC version's announcement trailer is seen above, with the game's description provided by SEGA reading:

Directed by Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil™ series, VANQUISH is a sci-fi shooter of epic proportion. Take control of DARPA operative Sam Gideon, who has been assigned a mission to battle legions of future-tech enemies using a vast arsenal of weapons. VANQUISH boasts fluid and frenetic combat, spectacular melee moves, and intense speed, wrapped in a gripping story.

It doesn't seem like SEGA is finished with porting its repertoire of console exclusive games to the PC, with the Senior VP of Commercial Publishing at SEGA Europe stating that "It was great to see the positive response from our community to the Bayonetta PC launch last month" and "There’s more to come from SEGA in this space, so stay tuned for further announcements."

Those who pre-order Vanquish on Steam will receive its Digital Deluxe Edition as a pre-order exclusive offer. This edition arrives with some extras such as a 5 track soundtrack sampler, character and enemy avatars, a digital art book, as well as exclusive wallpapers.

Vanquish Digital Deluxe Edition is available for pre-order on Steam for $19.99, with it unlocking on May 25. In addition, owners of Bayonetta on Steam will receive a 25% discount on the pre-order, placing the price at $14.99.
