Just over a week ago, Google confirmed that the next iteration of Android will be called Oreo, and shortly after it released system images for its Nexus and Pixel devices. But if you've got the Verizon variant of the Pixel or Pixel XL, then you're waiting on the carrier to push the update to you.
Luckily, you need not wait any longer, as Verizon announced today that the updates are available, and they bring a range of new features. For example, Oreo contains picture-in-picture mode, which will allow you to watch a YouTube video while using other apps.
Notifications have been cleaned up, and there are new notification dots that show up on an app icon. When you hold that icon, a pop-up menu will show you what's waiting for you. There are also notification channels, which allow you to modify the importance, sound, lights, vibration, and more, of different types of notifications.
There are also improvements to the Always-On Display, which will now "transition to an ambient display during an incoming notification for easier reading." Finally, the update also includes Instant Apps and Autofill.
The build numbers for each device are OPR6.170623.012, and they both contain the latest Android security patch, from August 5.
