Vermintide studio unveils Warhammer 40K: Darktide as a Xbox Series X console exclusive

Fatshark came in with a new game announcement during the Xbox Games Showcase event today, with the Stockholm-situated studio unveiling Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. The four-player cooperative action game was unveiled with a cinematic trailer, see it above.

For those unaware, Fatshark is the developer behind the two award-winning Vermintide titles set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, which pit players against hordes of Skaven, Chaos units, and bosses to offer a Left 4 Dead-like experience. As should be evident by the new trailer, Darktide is going over to the 40K universe to offer a similar experience.

Here's how the studio describes its newest title, which will offer a combination of shooting and melee skills to use against Imperium and Chaos factions:

In the depths of the hive, the seeds of corruption threaten an overwhelming tide of darkness. A heretical cult known as the Admonition seeks to seize control of the planet Atoma Prime and lay waste to its inhabitants. It is up to you and your allies in the Inquisition to root out the enemy before the city succumbs to Chaos.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is coming to Xbox Series X as a console exclusive as well as Steam sometime in 2021. Fatshark will be looking to recruit people for testing the game ahead of launch, though no timeframes were announced today.
