Vivo's 120W fast charging promises to fully charge your phone battery in 13 minutes

In March of this year, Xiaomi teased a 100W fast charging technology that it claimed could juice up your phone battery (4,000mAh) to 100% in a span of 17 minutes. Now, Vivo is trying to outspeed its Chinese rival with a much faster charging system.

Vivo revealed on Weibo today its 120W Super FlashCharge tech that it says will fully charge your 4,000mAh phone battery in just 13 minutes. It was also shared by a YouTube user, available to watch below.

If Vivo manages to bring the technology to consumers, it will be the fastest charging system for mobile devices, assuming no other company comes up with a faster one. At present, Vivo's best take on fast charging is its iQOO gaming phone unveiled in March, featuring a 44W Super FlashCharge system that is supposedly capable of fully charging the device in 45 minutes.

Fast charging seems to be the newest area where phone makers, especially those based in China, are trying to make innovations apart from efforts to remove the display notch. For its part, OPPO showed off its 50W SuperVOOC Flash Charge technology with the Find X Automobili Lamborghini Edition.

Of course, there's the question of how these companies will address heat buildup and increased battery degradation issues associated with fast charging with these blazing speeds. That part remains a barrier to finally bringing these super fast chargers to the market.
