Weekend PC Game Deals: More subscriptions enter the ring as E3 closes

Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place, every week, for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets.

Game subscriptions aren't new to the PC platform, but both Microsoft and Ubisoft had new services to reveal during their E3 presentations earlier this week. Both of these come with early adopter promotions which we are going to highlight.

Before getting to those, however, know that this is the last weekend before EA's Origin Access Basic trial offer comes to an end, which gives you 7-days of access to the over 200 games available vault, among other benefits.

Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription now officially has a PC version. Unlike the console version that gave access to a few Play Anywhere Titles, this new variant has over 100 PC games - see here for the full list -, including all of Microsoft's recent and upcoming first-party arrivals. Currently, the subscription is discounted to $1 for the first month.

And then there's Ubisoft and its upcoming Uplay+ subscription. Once this launches in September, it will cost $14.99 per month with access to over 100 modern and classic Ubisoft experiences. However, the first month can be accessed for free by anyone who links their Uplay account to the service before August 15.

It has come to light that Epic won't be going back to its bi-weekly giveaway schedule, and will instead continue the weekly PC game giveaways that it introduced for the Mega Sale until the end of 2019.

This week you can grab a copy of Enter the Gungeon from the Epic Games Store for free. This pun-filled bullet hell roguelike by Dodge Roll released in 2016 and takes players to planet Gunymede to fight through various bullet henchmen to reach bosses using the hundreds of diverse weapons they find along the way.

The Devolver Digital published title will be free until June 20, which is when Rebel Galaxy will take its place in the freebie slot. You, of course, need an Epic Game Store account to claim these freebies.

Free Events

In addition to usual free events, there's a couple of free weekends going on celebrating E3 announcements.

The Division 2 is up first, which can be played for free until 6:59AM UTC on June 17, giving you access to the entire game via Uplay. This is to promote the cooperative action RPG leaving the Washington D.C. setting in upcoming free expansions, even going back to New York in one.

With Bethesda announcing that Fallout 76 will get human NPCs later this year, the game has gone free-to-play until June 17. The full multiplayer game is included in this promotion, even the new battle royale mode. Note that this is available through the Bethesda.net Launcher.

Back on Steam, there are two free weekends running. Crytek's bounty hunting FPS, Hunt; Showdown, is accessible for free this weekend alongside the indie racing title Vector 36, which can be played on both on desktop and VR.

Big Deals

Major announcements at E3 doesn't mean older games get worse or anything, so have a look at our big deals list for this weekend down below. Some leaks have said the 2019 Steam Summer Sale will begin on June 25, however, so keep that in the back of your mind while browsing.

In case Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is out of stock, it can also be had for under $5 by using the discount code CLAPTRAP on Fanatical. Its Steam bundle is recommended if you already own anything from the bundle, as it reduces the price based on that.

DRM-free Goodness

GOG store's summer sale is finally coming to an end right after this weekend, so this is the last chance you have to peruse through the over "2077" DRM-free deals and see if something catches your eye. As a last hurrah, the store is also giving away copies of the 90s adventure game starring Christopher Lloyd Toonstruck until 2PM UTC on June 16.
