Weekend PC Game Deals: Surprise Encore Sales, a Paradox bundle, and more

Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place, every week, for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets.

Simulation fans are in for a treat this week, as Paradox Interactive has once again joined up with the Humble Store for a brand new bundle. The eight games available in the bundle are split into three tiers, which we will go through below.

Opting to put in just a dollar will get you Cities in Motion 2, Magicka 2, and Majesty 2 Collection, which arrives with all expansion packs. Not a bad start, but the next two tiers certainly ramp up the quality of the selection.

If you choose to purchase the 'beat the average' tier, which currently stands just below $7.50, you will receive the grand strategy games Crusader Kings II, Hearts of Iron III Collection, and Europa Universalis III Complete, as well as Obsidian Entertainment's highly-acclaimed RPG, Pillars of Eternity.

The final tier only offers a single game, but a great one at that. Paying $12 will net you Stellaris, Paradox's own space-based 4X grand strategy title, as well as all the previous tiers.

Right when the Humble Store's Winter Sale was supposed to end, it pulled out an Encore Sale that will go on for a few more days, bringing back a significant portion of sales from the previous weeks, as well as hosting a giveaway for Amnesia Collection. Check out our list of highlights in the Big Deals section below if you have any money leftover from the barrage of holiday sales in the past weeks.

Don't forget that if you're a Humble Monthly subscriber, you get an additional 10% discount on all games purchased via the store.

And speaking of the Humble Monthly Bundle, the store has expanded this month's early unlock to include Owlboy, an indie platform adventure game, which subscribers receive in addition to Civilization VI and a couple of DLC packs.

Free Events

Up first is Black Desert Online, a South Korean MMO developed by Pearl Abyss that is having a free event on Steam. Being an MMO, the provided time to try the massive amount of content the game offers is limited, to say the least, but it should be enough to see if the game is something you would enjoy. The event comes to a close on January 28th at 1pm PT, and the game is being offered at a 50% discount for the duration.

If competitive multiplayer games are more of your thing, Laser League's new beta may intrigue you more. The game offers 4vs4 (only up to 3vs3 in beta) fast-paced multiplayer action, described by the developer as the "high-octane contact sport of the future," that is "Easy to pick up, difficult to put down." The open beta is slated to end on January 28 at 10pm PT.

Big Deals

With the beginning of the weekend arrives a wide assortment of sales from a range of PC game stores, and below, we have a selection of handpicked games that are near or below their historical discount rates.

*DRM-free version is also included.

DRM-free Goodness

Now, with all those out of the way, let's have a look at some DRM-free deals that are on offer.

Do keep in mind that availability and pricing for some deals may vary depending on the region you're in.

And that is it for our pick of this weekend's PC game deals folks, and hopefully, some of you have enough self-restraint not to break the bank adding new games to your ever-growing backlogs. Of course, there is an enormous amount of other deals ready and waiting all over the interwebs if you comb through it hard enough, so keep your eyes open for those as well.
