Wikipedia's main page goes down unexpectedly [Update] It's back

Wikipedia seems to be facing problems today, as users are unable to use the site’s main pages, article pages, images and stylesheet information. The site will point your browser of choice to “en.wikipedia.org” which then shows a message stating that the problem facing the internet’s biggest encyclopedia “should be fixed soon”.

Social media sites have exploded with the news – leaving a lot of users very confused as to what happened and others with little to no means of accessing information on the sites. There currently is no estimated time for the problem to be resolved, but it does seem to be a severe networking issue. If you wish to use Wikipedia, try using archive.org and Google Cache.

We'll update you when we learn more about the problem.

Update: Everything seems to be back to normal.
