Windows 10 OEM pre-orders show up on Newegg, $109 for Home and $149 for Pro

This Summer, Microsoft is going to release a new version of Windows, Windows 10. While they have said time and time again that the OS will be a free upgrade for anyone running Windows 7 or 8, if you need to buy a full-copy of the OS, they have not come forward with this information.

One retailer, Newegg, has opened up pre-orders on its website for OEM versions of Windows 10 Home and Premium and is charging $109 and $149 respectively. While the shipping date is listed as 8/31, there is a caution symbol next to it which indicates that this could change, so we wouldn't read too much into that date.

But for the pricing, Newegg will let you run through the entire checkout process and pre-order the OS. Of course, until Microsoft formally announces pricing for the non-upgrade version of Windows 10, the pricing could change.

Still, this is the first time we have seen a retailer open up pre-orders for the OS with pricing information and if this information is indeed accurate, don't be surprised if other retailers follow suit as well as they will surely want to cash in on this opportunity as well.

Checking the Google cache of the pages shows that they were both updated on 5/29 or 5/30.

Newegg is generally considered a reputable retailer and for them to push out pre-orders with pricing does hold some weight to it unlike the no-name shops that try to guess at this information months before it becomes official. We will keep you posted about the pricing of the OS but for now, check out the source links below if you are interested in pre-ordering the OS.
