Last week, Microsoft released Windows 10 and if you have the Home version installed on your machine but would like to upgrade to Pro, Microsoft makes the process quite straightforward. However, what they have not done is make it easy to find the upgrade path, as I have already received several inquires about how to complete this task.
So, if you need to upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro, follow the steps below:
- Open Settings
- Click Update and Security
- Click Activation
- Click "Go To Store"
- Buy the upgrade - $99
After buying the upgrade, your machine will install the bits needed to take your install from Home to Pro; the process does not do a complete re-install either, so your files and settings are safe.
