Windows 8 RTM build to be 8600, new images surface

If the latest report out of China is to be believed, Windows 8 will RTM with the build 8600 and the development work for the RTM build should be completed by August first. If Windows 8 does hit RTM by August, it will be on track for a Fall release and most are pegging October as the expected release month.

If all of this turns out to be true, we will all have our hands on Windows 8 by the time the holiday season comes around, a crucial time for Microsoft. If Microsoft does get the product out the door and on to retail shelves before the holiday season, the busy sales season will help to boost Windows 8 market share from the start. We fully expect Microsoft to make this time-frame as it would be devastating to miss the holiday shopping season.

Win8China has also posted up for our viewing pleasure a few images that show off the new UI theme that will be shipping with the RTM version of Windows 8. There will be several new options for you to choose from, all in the Easter friendly pastels that Microsoft has grown to love.

With August just around the corner, it will not be long until OEMs get their hands on the OS and we start seeing Windows 8 products making their way on to store shelves.
