The Microsoft Store continues to slowly attract a number of new apps converted using the Desktop App Converter. WinZip is the latest app to join the fray, as the classic Win32 app has now been released on the digital storefront.
WinZip is one of the more recognizable names when it comes to archiving files, and it has typically been supportive of Microsoft's efforts regarding the Store. Two years ago, the file compression tool arrived on the Microsoft Store in the form of a UWP app, but the Win32 version will probably feel more familiar to most users.
The app can link to cloud services such as OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox, and it can also backup your files to those cloud services or local storage on a regular basis. It also features a multi-tab interface to view multiple folders or drives at the same time, and despite being a Win32 app, the app's description claims the interface is optimized for tablet and touch devices. One thing that seems to be missing is support for Cortana, which was included in the universal app before.
WinZip isn't a free tool, and after the initial one-month trial, you'll need to pay €49.99/$49.99 for an annual subscription to use the software. Still, if you're a fan of it, you can download the newly released app from here. You can also get the older UWP version here, but it might not offer all the same features.
