We've all seen the press around Microsofts newest weapon in the browser war -- Internet Explorer 9 -- but we haven’t heard (or seen) a lot regarding its mobile counterpart. Luckily for us, the guys over at The Next Web (via pocketnow.com) have managed to sneak a peak at the upcoming browser in action on Windows Phone 7, and they have good things to say about it (see the YouTube video at the bottom of this article).
We understand that the updated browser will be delivered with or before a major set of updates codenamed “Mango”. The browser includes HTML5 support, has a new look with the address bar located at the bottom of the screen, and is said to perform faster than the browser on iOS – although by the time IE9 actually hits WP7, things may have changed dramatically. Like its desktop counterpart, IE9 for WP7 will benefit from hardware acceleration. The browser should also include features like sharing to Twitter – as Twitter is scheduled to be integrated into WP7 at around the same time.
Many WP7 users are currently looking forward to the first minor WP7 update, codenamed "NoDo". Whilst this update has suffered significant delays, it's due to arrive sometime this week to handsets across the globe. "NoDo" brings copy & paste, significant performance enhancements, and improved Marketplace search to the platform.
