Xbox Live members get unlocked Netflix and Hulu Plus this weekend

Normally, Xbox 360 owners who are also Xbox Live Gold members would also need to pay the separate monthly subscription fee to access the Netflix and Hulu Plus apps (and we have already mentioned how we think this should be changed). This weekend, all Xbox Live members will be able to access both video streaming services, with just the Netflix and Hulu prices needed.

The Major Nelson website has the details on both free weekend offers. The Netflix offer is for all regions where Netflix is used on the Xbox 360 and is designed to help promote House of Cards, the new original drama series starring Kevin Spacey. Netflix will launch all 13 episodes of the Washington DC-based political drama on Friday so everyone with an Xbox Live Gold membership will be able to watch the entire season at once.

The Hulu Plus free offer is just for the US and is designed to get Xbox 360 owners to watch the service during Super Bowl weekend. Hulu will be showing all of the big TV commercials that will be broadcast during the game, along with classic Super Bowl commercial spots. Other Xbox 360 video partners like Maxim, Crunchyroll, EPIX and others will be offering Super Bowl themed programming this weekend as well.
