Xbox One exclusive ‘Scalebound' delayed until 2017

Platinum Games has announced that it's upcoming Xbox One exclusive RPG 'Scalebound' won't be hitting store shelves until next year, to ensure that the title "lives up to expectations". Microsoft has already started to tout their extensive line-up of titles releasing in 2016 and while the Xbox One will see many top tier exclusives, this is a significant hit to the platform's offerings over the coming year.

As we enter into 2016, we want to provide you with an update on Scalebound, the upcoming Xbox One-exclusive action-RPG that lets you fight alongside a fearsome dragon named Thuban.

[...] In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017. This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.

Scalebound was originally announced back at E3 2014, with only a short cinematic trailer to tease the title's premise. One year later, we received a significant gameplay demo at Gamescom 2015, but a majority of the game's mechanics are still yet to be revealed. Platinum Games has clarified that the game will be making an appearance at various events later this year, where we can expect more gameplay and a refined launch window.
