Xiaomi details key features for the Mi Band 5

Yesterday, Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi teased a picture of the latest entry in its line of smart fitness bands. The teaser offered a look at the design and color options of the upcoming Mi Band 5, displaying the fitness tracker in four shades: grey, red, yellow and black.

Today, Xiaomi shared some more information about the successor to the Mi Band 4 by listing a few of the key technical specifications to be featured in the new Mi Band. As per the company's official blog post on Weibo (translated from Chinese), the fifth generation Xiaomi smart band will feature a larger dynamic OLED screen compared to its predecessor which sports a 0.95-inch AMOLED display.

Other confirmed features of the Mi Band 5 include a new women's health mode, 11 professional sports modes, magnetic charging, NFC with payment support for UnionPay's QuickPass, a remote photography feature and a 'professional sensor' which most probably refers to a SpO2 sensor, as suggested by a rumor. The same rumor also mentions the possibility of Alexa support.

Xiaomi is planning to debut the Mi Band 5 in a live broadcast to be aired at 2:00 PM (local time) on June 11, 2020, where unconfirmed features such as Amazon's voice assistant and other specs could be confirmed. At this point in time, a global release for the wearable device is yet to be announced.
