Xiaomi to unveil the Redmi Note 9T featuring 5G support on January 8

Xiaomi has revealed the launch date of the Redmi Note 9T, an upcoming addition to the Redmi Note 9 series. The smartphone is set to debut on January 8, with 5G as its key feature.

The Chinese phone maker made the announcement on Twitter today. Xiaomi has also promised to bring an additional "surprise" for its customers beyond the phone's debut.

There's no official word, though, on what the Note 9T will bring to the table for consumers in terms of specs and features. That said, a glimpse into Xiaomi's teaser gives away the phone's camera design at the back. Unlike the square-shaped rear camera island that's found on the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro, the Note 9T has a circular setup on the back with three camera sensors and an LED flash that's similar to the Note 9 5G.

In addition, Xiaomi's teaser shows a rear phone panel with a purple color, suggesting that it can be one of the color variants for the device. It's not clear, however, what sets the Note 9T apart from the Note 9 5G that was launched in China last year.
