Yammer updated with Apple Watch support

Microsoft’s enterprise social networking service, Yammer, has been given an update today on iOS, adding support for the Apple Watch. This move has been seen with a variety of Microsoft services, and now Yammer has been added to the list of applications that support Apple’s wearable device.

The newest version of Yammer for iOS, version 6.5.0, allows certain actions to be performed on the Apple Watch, and while not as 'feature-filled' as the iPhone application, still offers many useful actions to increase productivity.

Currently, the Apple Watch release is designed to be a companion for Yammer, to pair with the iPhone application. Once installed, it is possible to view notifications from Yammer, and perform simple actions. These pre-set actions include liking posts, marking messages as unread, or casting the current conversation to an iPhone, to access all features offered by the phone version of the app. Glance support has also been added, to allow quick viewing of notifications and messages.

Here is a small snippet from the changelog, posted alongside the update on iTunes:

With this release, we're granting you the power to use Yammer when neither your computer nor your phone are immediately at hand. No, not Yammer for Hololens… yet.

Yammer for Apple Watch! Now you can stay on top of your most important conversations and activities at a glance, and take quick action so you have fewer to-dos at the end of the day. Be notified instantly of Yammer announcements or updates to relevant conversations. Tap your Apple Watch to Like, Mark as Unread, or View on Phone to continue working on your iPhone. And with Glances, you get a quick view of the number of unread messages and notifications.

Various bugs found in the previous version of the app have also been fixed, such as a widespread bug causing crashes on startup.
