Google announced the new YouTube Music service last month, offering a brand-new app powered by the enormous amount of content on YouTube at the pretty cost of free.
The service launched in only a handful of countries, namely the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and South Korea. Today, the company is extending the service to 12 more countries, as listed below:
- Austria
- Canada
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Ireland
- Italy
- Norway
- Russia
- Spain
- Sweden
- United Kingdom
Interestingly, although it was present in the original list of upcoming countries presented by Google during YouTube Music’s launch, Denmark remains absent from this expansion at the moment.
Although the YouTube Music service is free, it is so due to the presence of advertisements. Those who despise that have the option to subscribe to YouTube Music Premium for $9.99/mo, which also enables the ability to download tracks for offline listening and to be able to play music in the background.
YouTube Red was also rebranded as YouTube Premium with the launch of YouTube Music. That service includes everything that YouTube Music Premium offers, plus offers access to YouTube Originals and ad-free playback across YouTube for $11.99/mo. YouTube Premium is also available in the above-mentioned countries starting today.
Additionally, Google Play Music subscribers in these countries will automatically gain access to YouTube Music Premium but will also retain access to Google Play Music.
