Whats cooler than 600Mbps? 1Gbps, of course. Thats the difference between the X12 modem thats included in Qualcomms latest Snapdragon 821 chipset and the X16 thats in the upcoming Snapdragon 835.
According to a report from The Verge, ZTE will be announcing one of the first gigabit LTE phones at Mobile World Congress. The handset will be called the ZTE Gigabit Phone, which might be the least creative name for a device since the Huawei Watch.
The company says that it will allow for 360-degree video, 4K video, and instant cloud storage while on the go. Other than that, of course, well just have to wait until Mobile World Congress to see what else the device will include.
Indeed, its not even clear which chipset ZTE will use for the Gigabit Phone. Rumor has it that Samsung bought up all of the stock of the Snapdragon 835, so there wont be any devices with the chipset until later this spring. Its entirely possible, however, that ZTE will announce the handset and then provide a release date for a later timeframe.
