Zuckerberg to become animated film character

First there was ''The Social Network''. Now, Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg will be getting the comic book treatment from two US production companies.

Hayden 5 Media and Bluewater Productions plan to create an animated film based on Bluewater's ''Mark Zuckerberg: Creator of Facebook'' comic book. According to an announcement on Bluewater's website, the animated piece will be similar in style to 2006 film ''A Scanner Darkly'', which mixed live action with animation. ''The result will be a cross between real characters and animated surroundings seamlessly integrated for a unique, comic book aesthetic,'' the Bluewater site reads.

Hayden 5 Media president Todd Wiseman said the animated film was ''a great opportunity to re-tell the story of Mark Zuckerburg (sic) post Social Network in a brighter, animated form that could be enjoyed and understood by a broader audience.''

A brief summary of the ''Creator of Facebook'' comic book suggests Mr Zuckerberg's animated story will not differ greatly from the silver screen rendition of his life and the founding of Facebook.

''The road for the success for both his creation and him personally was not preordained nor was it always a smooth ride. He would be tempted with unimaginable amounts of money and have to deal harshly with people along the way - many of whom would later feel betrayed. Read how a young man's frustration with women helped spark an idea that would have him dating Victoria's secret models and how socially inept young man wound up creating a company that has revolutionized the way hundreds of millions of people all over the globe socialize with each other.''

But Hayen 5 Media executive producer Milos Silber was confident the animated piece would easily find an audience. ''We're just aware of the profound impact of Facebook, and with over 500 million users, we're bound to have an audience. One that is more willing to watch a shortened, visually captivating summary of this short epic online, or on their favorite network."

The ''Mark Zuckerberg: Creator of Facebook'' comic book is slated for release next month, but no indication has been given as to when audiences will be seeing Mr Zuckerberg's animated debut.
